A collaboration of the highest order, the five-strong collection of exceptional buildings and the community it cultivates will fast become the beating heart of Waterloo.
Waterloo is seen by many as the Manhattan of Sydney—a former industrial precinct transforming into a vibrant culinary and cultural destination. In the centre of it all, Mastery Apartments sets the tone of sophistication with its exceptional offering of cafes, restaurants, retail and its abundance of energising nature. Carefully conceived and designed nourish a culturally diverse and engaged community, Mastery will be a lifestyle precinct without compare in Australia—or the world, for that matter.
Designed by Silvester Fuller, the arresting Building A has a clear identity that complements the surrounding Mastery buildings, yet stands alone as a distinct infusion of character for Waterloo. Lustrous horizontal veils, which emanate upwards from the ground plane, unify the public area with the residences above, while also articulating the nuances of the different spaces. The balconies reveal the subdivision and habitation of the building within, providing residential scale and character to the facade.
One of three low-rise buildings designed by Koichi Takada for this project, Building B comprises 53 luxury apartments and was conceived as a response to Kengo Kuma’s vision. The tiered façade is designed to house an abundance of plant life and greenery—a design conceived to cultivate connections between architecture, nature and people. The result is a building striking in its simplicity and restraint.
Building C is more than just a building—it’s a unique opportunity to be a part of Sydney’s history. It is an architectural masterpiece. The 20-storey building features a rooftop infinity pool, gymnasium and a community space designed to emulate a forest, further connecting residents with the natural world.
A sophisticated monument to life, colour and community, Building D’s graceful design nods to its masterful counterparts with gentle curves and lush greenery. The light colour palette softens the intelligently green-accented façade, effortlessly complementing the lively streetscape. This eminently elegant low-rise building houses 42 luxury residences, with the rooftop brought to life by diverse plant life inspired by the landscapes of Sydney.
Favouring sweeping curves and soft edges, Building E’s striking yet subtle façade hints at the sophistication within. Koichi Takada’s mesmerising design features lustrous golden accents—the most notable being the sinuous awning that houses the retail area. Crowning 93 luxury residences is a beautiful rooftop where residents can absorb the energies of both nature and community.
Inspired by the interplay of light (hikari) and shadow (kage), each interior features modern and sophisticated fittings and furnishings. Embracing a zen manner, the unruffled design essence is born from calm consideration of what enriches residents’ health and happiness. The intention being to create a sense of retreat, an escape from today’s demanding urban lifestyle; similar to the effect that nature has on lifting energy levels and recharging the mind to find balance in life.
Building C features exquisite penthouses designed to provide an unparalleled luxury-living experience. Unmatched panoramic views of Australia’s most beautiful city serve as the backdrop to everyday life, enriched and enhanced by the highest-quality fittings, fixtures and materiality. Steered by principles of Japanese minimalism, Building C’s penthouses exude pure elegance in their timeless simplicity.
